INTRODUCTION
To work seamlessly in NetSuite, one should ensure the segregation of duties, role definition, and permissions are in order. Roles are typically created and granted using a “least privilege” model to ensure that only the users have access to the required records to perform their jobs. Having separate permission levels for each feature allows for a more flexible approach to creating custom roles while maintaining application security.
After customizing a role, you might need to edit or inactivate it. A perfect example of when you might need to change a custom role is when there is a merger of companies. The Production roles will need to be updated to the new name of the company, as well as updating subsidiary restrictions.
Note: When creating a new role in NetSuite, the user must first log out to view the details of the role. Similarly, if they are granted new permission; they must also log in to view the permissions.
PROCESS
As an Administer edit a custom role by navigating to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles.
Click Edit next to the role you want to change.
On the Role page, make the desired changes, and click Save.
Note: On custom roles that are already created, you cannot change the CENTER TYPE.
