Our client operates in the tourism and attraction industry, managing a network of destination sites globally. With growing demand and complex retail operations, the organization required a centralized system to unify transactions and reporting across all sales channels.
Requirements and Challenges
To meet operational goals, the client needed an integrated solution that could consolidate transaction data from multiple point-of-sale and eCommerce platforms. A key objective was to maintain clear visibility into sales performance and inventory levels across all physical and digital locations. Several challenges were identified during discovery, including disconnected systems for in-person and online sales, the absence of unified reporting by location, a reliance on manual reconciliation for tax data, and no centralized method for inventory management.
Our Approach
We implemented an integration-first strategy designed to connect key sales and eCommerce platforms Square and Shopify to NetSuite and in turn Avalara. This approach ensured that all sales transactions, from both physical attractions and online stores, were consistently captured and synchronized with NetSuite. The strategy focused on establishing two-way data synchronization between Shopify and Square with NetSuite for both transactional reporting and item receipt/fulfillment records. Additionally, the team implemented automated tax validation and posting through Avalara, while restructuring NetSuite records to support location-based inventory tracking, and developed custom dashboards to deliver sales reporting filtered by region and channel.
